Bandon Dunes may be the strongest private-aviation golf story in America because the resort is intentionally remote. That remoteness creates the experience golfers love, but it also makes getting there the hardest part of the trip.
Private aviation can remove hours of ground travel
Bandon Dunes says private charter can use Bandon State Airport about 10 minutes from the resort or Southwest Oregon Regional Airport roughly 35 minutes away. By comparison, Eugene is about two and a half hours away, Medford about three hours and Portland roughly four and a half hours by road.
For a group from Houston, Austin or Dallas, landing closer can turn a complicated travel day into a much cleaner arrival and preserve time for another round.
What Golf Digest says about Bandon Dunes
Golf Digest ranks Bandon Dunes No. 9 among America's 100 Greatest Public Courses for 2025-26 and rates it 4.7 out of 5. The magazine says the resort has grown into a destination that rivals Pinehurst and the Monterey Peninsula, with multiple courses appearing on its national rankings.
In a feature on the resort, Golf Digest also highlighted how golfers describe the experience as something that goes beyond a single course: the golf, people, caddies and setting are what keep them coming back.
