The commercial ground transfer adds up
Kiawah Island Golf Resort advises travelers to allow roughly one hour from Charleston International Airport to Kiawah Island, plus additional time to reach the Ocean Course. Private aviation can create more flexibility around airport selection and departure timing, depending on aircraft and operator requirements.
For a group from Houston, Austin or Dallas, avoiding airline connections and terminal time can keep more of the arrival day available and prevent the final round from being cut short.

Golf Digest ranks the Ocean Course No. 5 among America's 100 Greatest Public Courses, No. 30 among all U.S. courses and No. 1 in South Carolina for 2025-26. Its panel rates the course 4.8 out of 5.
The magazine highlights Pete Dye's demanding coastal design, nearly three miles of ocean frontage and the wind that makes the course a serious championship test. The Ocean Course hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup and the 2012 and 2021 PGA Championships.
